The heroine of L.M. Montgomery’s beloved novel, Anne Shirley, is a spunky, red-headed orphan sent to live with a farmer and his sister on Prince Edward Island. The only problem? Anne was the first show I worked on at Weston Playhouse. One of my first assignments was to create two sets of curtains for the kitchen based on the reference image provided by the Scenic Designer. I drafted a pattern for the curtains based on the image and the dimensions of the windows. After I finished sewing the curtains, I hand stitched daisies of varying sizes to mimic the look of the flowers I was referencing.
